Creative Economy Workshop Scheduled

Wiggins, MS—The  Stone County Economic Development Partnership is planning for their second annual Creative Economy Workshop, scheduled for Thursday, February 25, 2016.  The day-long program is being hosted at the Community Arts Center on the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.    On-site registration begins at 9 a.m. the program kicks-off at 10 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m.  Cost to participate is $10.

We have an outstanding agenda for the day, speakers from across the state will share information on a variety of resources available to small communities.  Representatives from MS Arts Commission, MS Main Street Assoc. and others will be in attendance.    Mississippi’s creative economy employs more than 60,000 people in job sectors ranging from design to culinary arts,  museums and heritage.  Most important, the concept is creating a buzz across the state and is generating excitement in small towns that now see new opportunities they may not have considered, new ways to generate, attract and keep jobs.  Taking advantage of our county’s cultural and creative resources can both stimulate the local economy and lay the foundation for future growth and stability.

Lunch is being prepared for us by the award-winning Stone High School Culinary Arts students.  You may register at:  scedp@stonecounty.com

The Stone County Economic Development Partnership is organized under the general laws of Mississippi as a not-for-profit, public corporation authorized by the Mississippi State Legislature in 1999.  The organization plays a vital role in providing one voice to local business owners and those looking to locate in Stone County.
