The Stone County Arts Council will hold their April meeting on April 18th, 5:30 pm at the Community Arts Center on the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Following the meeting, artist Joy Jennings will present “Painting Flowers.” All supplies will be furnished. Cost for members is $25. Cost for non-members is $35.

Arts at the Capitol, March 29, 12:30-2:30, State Capitol Rotunda, Jackson, Mississippi -Stone County will have a table!
Coast Bicentennial Celebration, March 31 – April 1, 2017. The Pine Hill Dulcimers will play at 4:30 pm on March 31st at Centennial Park on Highway 90 in Gulfport.
Award Winning Children’s Author Louise Borden will have a book signing and author feedback session on April 3, 2017 at 5:30 pm at the Wiggins Library.
Congratulations to Sandra Cassibry and Daniel Calcote, their students and Stone County for the beautiful Bicentennial Mural (Number 8, mosaic tile) that was dedicated on March 18, 2017 during the Pine Hill Celebration on the grounds of the Stone County Courthouse.
The “Perk Players” in partnership with “The Telling Trees Project” presented A Gathering of Heroes. Admission to the production included donations to “Our Daily Bread Food Pantry”! Over 15 flats of food were donated!

Third Annual Creative Economy Workshop
The Stone County Economic Development Partnership, MS Gulf Coast Community College and the Mississippi Creative Economy sponsored the Third Annual Creative Economy Workshop, February 23, 2017, at the Community Arts Center on the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Featured speakers included Tonya Sanders Hays (Wings Director and writer of the two “Telling Trees” Plays featuring Stone County stories), Rick Wilemon (William Carey University-curator, painter, and sculptor) and Bethany Byrd (Marketing) “Own Your Hill”. Robert St. John was the luncheon keynote speaker and the Ultimate Panel Discussion followed – Tres Hombres– Robert St. John (Chef, Restaurateur, Author), Malcolm White (Director Mississippi Arts Commission) and Wyatt Waters (watercolorist and author)! 65+ participants enjoyed a day of sharing and learning from these incredible workshop leaders!

Stone County Arts Council March Meeting and Kelly Spacht Workshop
The Stone County Arts Council will meet on March 21, 2017 at 4:30pm at the Community Arts Center on the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The meeting is open to all interested participants.

The “Abstract Landscape” workshop presented by Alabama artist Marilyn Ammons sponsored by the Stone County Arts Council at the Community Arts Center was a huge success!
Celebrating Stone County’s Centennial! The first set of “Centennial Garden Poles” are located at the branch of the Bank of Wiggins! The Bank was one of the sponsors for the poles. Local artists painted the Centennial Poles, the Heritage poles that celebrate businesses that are at least 100 years old, and a theme pole that celebrates the business (painted by artist Kym Garraway).
Congratulations to Stone County and the Bank of Wiggins on their 100th Birthday!

Fire Chief Jody Hatten shared the Wiggins Fire Station story for the Telling Trees Project with recent SHS graduate and MGCCC student, Jackson Jones. The February 2016 production of “A Gathering of Heroes”-sharing Stone County’s Best – included our Stone County’s Fire Fighters.
The Stone County Arts Council will meet on Monday, February 29, 2016, at 5:30 PM at the Visual Arts Center on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Campus at Perkinston. This is an adjustment to the regular meeting date due to conflicts.
Agenda will include planning for future workshops and other events. All are welcome.
